Video, as a medium, is the best way to express something through the 2 most prominent human senses: Sight and Sound. In order to take advantage of this, my little abstracted story has change over time in the audio and video. I also took from performance art ever so slightly by eating a business card. The business card was masked and overlaid with blazing-fast advertisements and agenda-pushing information flashing by. These visuals were appropriated from contemporary mass media: social media advertisements and posts. I really appreciated making this project because I was able to experiment with my storytelling and visual effects. Some took longer than I would have liked, but they do great at conveying the changes in perception/mindset that I intended. Video may be a medium that simply borrows from many other mediums, but perhaps that’s what makes it unique, and so wide-open. There are so many more variables that the artist has control of with video, and I tried to take advantage of as many as possible with this project.
